Maverick Offspring makes its ensemble debut at The Lounge at Hudson View Gardens on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 5 pm. This trio of outstanding performers – pianist Kathleen Supové, violist Stephanie Griffin, and flutist Tessa Brinckman – perform a program of sultry, ephemeral, and groove music from past and present. The program features music by French impressionists Claude Debussy and Pierre Auclert and music from around the world, including by South African Andile Khumalo, Chinese-American Chen Yi and American Zack Browning. Compositions by the members of the trio include the world premiere of Stephanie Griffin’s For Joni and Nautical Twilight by Kathleen Supové. About the Artists Interdisciplinary New Zealand flutist Tessa Brinckman has been described as a “flutist of chameleon-like gifts” and “virtuoso elegance” (Gramophone). She has premiered over a hundred new works (commissioning nearly thirty) and her own compositions often include experimental animation, installations and video. tessabrinckman.com Stephanie Griffin is an innovative composer and violist with an eclectic musical vision. She founded the Momenta Quartet in 2004, and is a member of Ensemble Ipse, the Argento Chamber Ensemble, and Continuum. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Juilliard School where she studied with Samuel Rhodes. Kathleen Supové has commissioned, performed and recorded music by a Who’s Who of composers. In addition to humans, she has performed with Yamaha Disklaviers, laptop orchestras, robots, and XReality. Projects include solo works about Migration, Women Warriors, and Last Words/Objects; Shocking Red, a duo with Michelle Shocked; and a violin-piano duo with Jennifer Choi. supove.com |
