Thursday Tasting at Cabrini Wines & Spirits: French Wines
October 18 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
French Wine this Thursday for your sampling pleasure:
Commanderie de la Bargemonne Rose from Provence, France: This ancient estate, founded in the Middle Ages by the Knights Templar, has produced an exemplary rosé. It has lightness and poise as well as great fruitiness, acidity and a crisp, zesty texture. Perfumed and with red-currant and strawberry flavors, the wine is ready to drink.
Cave de Tain Marsanne, Rhone Valley, France: Pale yellow color with green hints. Rich nose of white daisy flowers and citrus fruit. Fresh on the palate, with white fruits and vanilla aromas. Easy-drinking, harmonious and crisp wine. This wine is 100% Marsanne.
Syrousse Grenache/Syrah from Roussillon, France: “Produced at the Les Vignerons de Tautavel Vingrau (VTV) cooperative in the village of Tautavel, Syrousse is a great expression of ripe Roussillon Syrah. Inspired by Tautavel’s 450,000-year prehistoric past and wealth of old vines and schistous soils, this approachable, terroir-driven wine is sure to please. Full-bodied, with spicy blackberry and dark fruit aromas on the nose and soft, plush tannins on the palate. Excellent with red meats and boldly flavored foods.” —importer
Les Darons Carignan/Grenache/Syrah, Languedoc, France: The Les Darons Languedoc is a blend of old vine Grenache (60%) and Carignan (25%) with 15% younger vine Syrah, all from the Laure-Minervois area northwest of Carcassonne in Languedoc, France. This wine does not spend any time in oak.
