Celebrate the 21st anniversary at United Palace of the classic documentary about 11-year-old NYV public school kids, including students from P.S. 115 in Washington Heights, journeying into the world of ballroom dancing and revealing pieces of themselves and their world along the way. After the movie the "stars" of the documentary will be interviewed.
NoMAA Labs: Join Sylvestre Akaapo for an interactive, all-levels workshop rooted in traditional West African movement and live drumming. Participants will explore rhythm, grounding, and expressive movement while learning about the cultural context of the dance and the role of the drum as a unifying force. The Lab offers a joyful, embodied experience that fosters connection between body, rhythm, culture, and community.
