This event will be conducted in English. \nWe are proud to announce that this year’s guest of honor will be Lenni Lenapexkweyok\, a women’s collective from five federally recognized Lenape nations: the Delaware Tribe of Oklahoma\, the Delaware Nation of Oklahoma\, the Delaware Nation at Moraviantown\, the Munsee-Delaware Nation\, and the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. They coordinate homecoming trips for Lenapes residing in Oklahoma\, Wisconsin\, and Ontario as a way of intergenerational healing. Audience members will also take a little journey to Brazil and learn Samba dance at the end of the walk and some Bomba from Puerto Rico along the way. \nUDC dance artists Lisa Green\, Amy Kail\, Navarra Novy-Williams will be joined by Shanik Garcia\, Juan Usera\, Paul Thompson\, and Rishauna Zumberg. This group of dance artists collectively draw from diverse traditions including Afro-Brazilian\, Afro-Puertorican\, and European and U.S. Modern Dance in creating and performing their dances. John Ehlis\, Matthew Gonzales\, and Jessica Lurie perform original music on Saxophone\, Flute\, Guitar\, and Drums; and poets Alison Stone and Peter Bulow share poems created for the day. Student dancers Camila Alvarez\, Alexis Camacho\, Victoria Lopez\, and Valerie Quito from The Center Dance Studio in Inwood will also join us this year! \nWe encourage our audience to bring light pillows\, blankets\, or folding chairs you can easily carry as we go from site to site.

Afterwards\, there will be a reception with the musicians. \n\nRompiendo barreras  comienza con  Dumbarton Oaks\, Igor Stravinsky’s ingenious and elegant chamber concerto\, inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos . Herencia (“Heritage”) by Andrea Casarrubios is a deeply personal reflection on memory\, identity\, and cultural roots. Inspired by the composer’s Spanish heritage\, the work intertwines lyrical melodies and evocative textures in a moving musical tribute to the traditions and stories that have spanned generations. We conclude our program with Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 3. Completed in 1847\, this is generally considered the pinnacle of her orchestral output. Combining the balance of Classicism with the intensity of Romanticism\, the work demonstrates a masterful command of orchestral color\, dramatic structure\, and lyrical invention\, reaffirming her place among the leading symphonic composers of her time.

The work also pays tribute to Joaquín Sorolla’s monumental mural series Vision of Spain\, which documents the people and customs of the Iberian Peninsula\, and which has long inspired Sanford’s work. Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the installation of the Vision of Spain\, this project honors Sorolla’s legacy through a contemporary reflection that celebrates the Hispanic Society’s Uptown community. \nTom Sanford is a Harlem-based painter whose work captures the energy\, humor\, and contradictions of contemporary life. Drawing on the visual language of pop culture\, politics\, and art history\, Sanford’s “Pop-Surreal-Expressionist” style combines bold color\, expressive brushwork\, and incisive storytelling to portray the beauty and absurdities of modern America. His elaborate tableaux of New York City feature cultural icons and everyday people alike\, inviting reflection on celebrity\, media\, and justice. By transforming the fleeting spectacle of current events into complex human narratives\, Sanford captures the evolving spirit of the urban landscape and its broader national context.

A native New Yorker of Puerto Rican and Dominican heritage\, she creates work that centers bold\, tenacious women and unapologetically powerful femininity. \nWith a background in ballet\, modern dance\, jazz\, percussion\, and yoga\, Xianix has devoted herself to the lifelong study of flamenco with masters in New York and Spain. Throughout her career\, she has shared the stage with acclaimed artists. Her performances have taken her to major stages and cultural venues around the world. She also toured internationally with Noche Flamenca’s acclaimed production Antigona. \nPresented in collaboration with Inwood Art Works\, Cine al Fresco is the Hispanic Society’s annual free outdoor film series dedicated to Spanish and Latin American cinema. \nThe program begins at 6pm with a special pre-show live performance followed by the film at 7pm.
