SUMMARY:Dyckman Farmhouse: Opening Reception - Soon Come\, Likkle More by Jhanique Lovejoy
DESCRIPTION:Soon Come\, Likkle More by Jhanique Lovejoy is an installation of new photographic works that incorporate Black photographic praxis through alternative processes\, textiles\, and sculpture. Featuring everyday images such as passport photos and other ephemera often found in Jamaican homes\, this multi-room experience transports viewers from Washington Heights to Jamaica\, exploring how memory and identity are preserved in domestic and diasporic spaces. \nSoon Come\, Likkle More considers how photography is more than documentation— it is a medium that embodies an archive of diasporic and familial memory. Soon Come\, Likkle More is an ode to Jamaica\, and an ode to Natasha Lovejoy.

SUMMARY:Little City Studio: Woven Together - Open House
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Woven Together\, a special Little City Studio Open House where families and children will help create a large-scale woven fabric wall installation together.  (Down the driveway\, around back) \nUsing fibers\, fabric\, yarn\, color\, texture\, and simple weaving techniques\, participants will contribute to a growing collaborative artwork that transforms over the course of the event. Part art project\, part community-building experiment\, this installation celebrates creativity\, connection\, and the beauty of many hands working together. \nFamilies will also have an opportunity to explore the studio\, learn about upcoming activities\, discover our 3 main programs\, and experience Little City Studio’s playful approach to art\, design\, engineering\, and hands-on learning. We also invite families to bring old fabric\, textiles\, yarn\, or clothing that may no longer be worth donating. These materials may become part of the installation itself. \nExpect creative messes\, curious children\, and a studio full of imagination. All ages welcome. Adult participation required – Parents should also be actively engaged. \nRSVP: https://www.hisawyer.com/little-city-studio/schedules/activity-set/1911192?day=2026-06-06&view=cal&source=camps \ninfo@littlecitystudio.org

SUMMARY:Word Up Community Bookshop: New Date June 3rd - Leah Kim's MOM\, UNFILTERED with Frederick Joseph
DESCRIPTION:Word Up welcomes mental health advocate and storyteller Leah 수진 Kim to discuss her new book\, Mom\, Unfiltered: Maternal Mental Health and Finding Freedom Through Motherhood\, a deeply personal examination of the dire state of our maternal and postpartum care for mothers. \nIn conversation with Kim will be Frederick Joseph\, author of This Thing of Ours and Patriarchy Blues: Reflections on Manhood. \nThis event is a $5 suggested donation ticket with 30 max attendees. Please register in advance. \nABOUT THE BOOK\nFor expecting and new parents\, too often the care is so focused on a healthy baby that the mother’s physical and mental needs are overlooked. Mothers face intense pressure to have the perfect birth plan\, breastfeed with ease\, and immediately bond with their baby. Unfortunately\, these expectations can lead to anxiety\, depression\, and overwhelm. But it doesn’t have to be that way. \nMom\, Unfiltered is profoundly personal and brutally honest\, yet it is ultimately deeply hopeful. It is about survival and growth\, an invitation to move beyond our current social\, cultural\, and familial realities to support mothers in a meaningful way-physically\, mentally\, and spiritually.

SUMMARY:Lost Inwood: Inwood Sports\, Illustrated
DESCRIPTION:LOST INWOOD \n-Inwood Sports\, Illustrated- \n-TUESDAY JUNE 2nd at 7:30PM- \nBatter Up! When it comes to the subject of sport\, Inwood has seen its share. Of course there are well-known activities like football\, baseball\, basketball\, tennis\, skating\, bowling and boating. But how about more esoteric pastimes such as automotive hill-climbs\, bicycle racing or cricket? \nThis Tuesday June 2nd 7:30pm at INWOOD FARM\, LOST INWOOD will delve into the colorful history of sport in north Manhattan. We’ll hear about the rich baseball history of the old Dyckman Oval stadium. We’ll regale you with tales of the Boat clubs along the Harlem and Hudson where olympians trained. The Inwood Little League\, over seventy-five seasons and counting. The story of Baker field. How about Dyckman basketball? Or street racing on Broadway 100 years ago? \nBut wait\, there’s more. Famous sports figures\, the rope tow at Van Cortlandt park’s ski slope\, and if you’re into sports from the 1700s\, we’ll have… fox hunts?! \nIt’s going to be fun. SUMMARY:Dyckman Farmhouse Museum: 1776 - A Defining Moment in the Story of Northern Manhattan with Don Rice
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free\, in-person lecture about the American Revolution and Northern Manhattan history at Dyckman Farmhouse Museum! \nNearly 250 years ago\, in November 1776\, Dyckman was consumed by warfare. \nThousands of British and Hessian soldiers attacked the hillsides and overwhelmed the American defenses there. For the next seven years\, occupying forces sucked the area dry\, leaving behind a countryside devoid of natural resources and pockmarked with wrecked farmsteads and roads. It was a defining moment in Inwood’s past. \nUsing primary sources and rare images\, we’ll relive the events that led up to the battle of Fort Washington in 1776. \nCome learn about the Dyckman family’s role in trying to protect the neighborhood and their home\, and discover if anything still remains from those tumultuous times. \nFREE\, but RSVP Required: Register on Eventbrite \nDon Rice was board president of the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum Alliance from 2016-2025. In 2009\, he founded the “Lost Inwood” series of popular local history talks and almost a decade later\, in 2019\, Rice co-authored a book of the same name with fellow local historian Cole Thompson. He’s lived with his family in North Manhattan for more than 25 years and is retired from a career in the Broadway Music field.
