SUMMARY:WHCO & Inwood Hill Park: Summer Picnic Concert - Riverside Brass Quintet
DESCRIPTION:Bring your picnic blanket to relax with the Riverside Brass Quintet in Inwood Hill Park and enjoy a program that is “quintessentially NYC” with music by George Gershwin\, Lin Manuel Miranda\, John Batiste\, Will Aaronson and more. \nWhat started as a group of friends reading music and sharing bagels in an apartment on Riverside Drive\, Riverside Brass Quintet (RBQ) redefines contemporary chamber music through novel performances\, community-driven projects\, and purposeful collaboration. RBQ is committed to uplifting local artists and ensembles; their Brass on Broadway series enabled Upper Manhattan residents to attend and explore popular Broadway music in three varied venues across Central Harlem\, Washington Heights and Inwood. \nThis performance takes place in Inwood Hill Park\, on Pat’s Lawn. Bathrooms can be found inside the nearby Nature Center or the restaurant Inwood Farm with purchase of food or beverage. Come early to talk a walk in the largest remaining old-growth forest in Manhattan\, explore the newly renovated Inwood Hill Nature Center and be sure to stop by our WHCO sponsor CHOCnyc for their incredible homemade ice cream. \nThese concerts are free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring their own picnic\, blankets\, or chairs\, and we kindly ask that you help maintain the cleanliness and care of our shared public spaces. \nRain date: August 30th at 2pm in Inwood Hill Park\, Pat’s Lawn.

SUMMARY:Hispanic Society: "Living Vision: The Sorolla Gallery at 100" Curator Talk
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an intimate conversation with Dr. Noemí Espinosa about the regional costumes featured in Joaquín Sorolla’s mural series Vision of Spain. \nDr. Noemí Espinosa is Associate Curator at the Hispanic Society Museum & Library. She officially joined the institution’s Department of Prints and Photographs in 2007\, where she cataloged and studied the core of the collection\, an exceptional legacy of geographical\, and anthropological value from Spain\, Portugal\, and Latin America. She has also researched extensively the history and art of The Philippines from the 19th and 20th centuries. \nAs an art historian and ethnographer\, Dr. Espinosa is interested in the history of familiar things\, the ones we might take for granted\, and sometimes don’t notice. Her recent research focus is in the collection of Decorative Arts and Textiles\, shifting from a visual to a material culture that more closely represents the development and changes of a society\, its traditions\, taste\, popular beliefs\, and daily life.

SUMMARY:Inwood Art Works: Sound Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Sound Meditation\nJoin us for a guided\, meditative sound experience\,  This 45-minute sound bath journey is the perfect way to slow down\, unwind from the week and reconnect with yourself. \nSound has long been used as a tool for recalibrating the body & mind and this session is designed to allow your body & nervous system to return to a more aligned state. \nA range of resonant instruments – including chimes\, gongs\, drums\, etc. – will be played during this experience. The sound from these instruments naturally give your mind an object to focus on\, and it is this state of attention and deep listening – paired with the vibration & frequency of the sound – that creates an internal shift\, attuning your body’s frequencies to that of the instruments\, naturally allowing your nervous system to return to a more regulated state. \nThis is an invitation to listen\, receive\, and notice what happens – allowing yourself to experience sound in a way you haven’t before. No experience necessary. Simply come as you are & allow the sound to do the work.

SUMMARY:Buunni Inwood: Cosme\, live at Buunni
DESCRIPTION:An intimate\, acoustic performance featuring Latin alternative soundscapes weaved into an indie representation of pop\, rock\, and ballads \nJoin Cosme\, the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter behind the Spanish adaptation of “Lo Arriesgo Todo” by Bruno Mars\, as he premieres his debut solo album BRUJO in New York City. This intimate\, acoustic performance will feature Latin alternative soundscapes weaved into an indie representation of pop\, rock\, and ballads. \nCosme is the kind of artist you discover and keep coming back to. As a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles\, his music “…strikes a balance between rock and pop\, while being enriched by elements of Caribbean folklore…” (Rolling Stones Español). His songs live at the intersection of emotion\, storytelling\, and undeniable talent\, and have already appeared in international television productions including Orange Is the New Black\, The Blacklist\, Jane the Virgin\, From Dusk Till Dawn\, and Rush\, quietly becoming part of the soundtracks of millions of lives. He isn’t chasing a sound but rather creating one. \nNow\, Cosme steps into his boldest chapter yet with his solo debut project\, an ambitious album where film\, tarot\, and music collide to tell a story of transformation. Each chapter — Luna Rosa\, El Músico\, El Poeta\, El Alquimista\, and El Sol — builds toward a final transformation: BRUJO. “I dream of building a life where music is sustainable\,
