RBQ is committed to uplifting local artists and ensembles; their Brass on Broadway series enabled Upper Manhattan residents to attend and explore popular Broadway music in three varied venues across Central Harlem\, Washington Heights and Inwood. \nThis performance takes place in Inwood Hill Park\, on Pat’s Lawn. Bathrooms can be found inside the nearby Nature Center or the restaurant Inwood Farm with purchase of food or beverage. Come early to talk a walk in the largest remaining old-growth forest in Manhattan\, explore the newly renovated Inwood Hill Nature Center and be sure to stop by our WHCO sponsor CHOCnyc for their incredible homemade ice cream. \nThese concerts are free and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:Open House 2026: Sundays\, May 24 – September 6\nJoin us for our free\, guided 20-minute kayak trips on the Hudson River just north of the George Washington Bridge. \nIf you plan on paddling with us\, please complete your 2026 season waiver prior to your first visit this year. \nWhen:  Every Sunday\, Memorial Day – Labor Day (May 24 – September 6\, 2026)\, except July 26. We will hold a special Open House on Saturday\, July 25\, for City of Water Day. \n\n\nSignup begins in person at 9 a.m. for three guided “waves” on a first come\, first served basis. Once you’ve signed up\, be sure to return to the boathouse on time or you’ll forfeit your spot. \n\n\nSign up to paddle in a boat by yourself or with a friend in a tandem kayak (as available). No previous paddling experience necessary! \n\n\nWave times: \n\n\no   Wave 1: Arrive 9:45 a.m.\, launch 10 a.m. \no   Wave 2: Arrive 10:30 a.m.\, launch 10:45 a.m. \no   Wave 3: Arrive 11:15 a.m.\, launch 11:30 a.m. \n What:  Open House Sundays at Inwood Canoe Club \n\n\nKayak on one of our 12 SOTs (sit-on-tops) or in a tandem kayak (built for two). \n\n\nPaddle with your family\, friends or new acquaintances in our “canoemaran.” Up to six guests + two ICC “Turtles” (aka members) will fit comfortably. \n\n\n Details: \n\n\nAll guests must be able to swim. \n\n\nMust be a minimum of 8 years old. Guests under 18 must bring a parent or guardian. Whether a minor will be allowed to paddle with us depends on conditions that day and on the discretion of the club member running the Open House. \n\n\nWe supply boat\, paddle and PFD (personal flotation device\, aka life vest). No prior paddling experience required. \n\n\nWear shoes and clothes that can get wet. \n\n\nDon’t bring many valuables; you will need to leave them at the boathouse or supply your own waterproof bag for them. ICC is not liable for the loss of any valuables left in the boathouse\, in a boat or on the surrounding property. \n\n\nNo pets at Open House. \n\n\nSince Open House began in 2002\, the club has offered the only walk-up kayaking program in Northern Manhattan. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an intimate conversation with Dr. Noemí Espinosa about the regional costumes featured in Joaquín Sorolla’s mural series Vision of Spain. \nDr. Noemí Espinosa is Associate Curator at the Hispanic Society Museum & Library. She officially joined the institution’s Department of Prints and Photographs in 2007\, where she cataloged and studied the core of the collection\, an exceptional legacy of geographical\, and anthropological value from Spain\, Portugal\, and Latin America. She has also researched extensively the history and art of The Philippines from the 19th and 20th centuries. \nAs an art historian and ethnographer\, Dr. Espinosa is interested in the history of familiar things\, the ones we might take for granted\, and sometimes don’t notice. Her recent research focus is in the collection of Decorative Arts and Textiles\, shifting from a visual to a material culture that more closely represents the development and changes of a society\, its traditions\, taste\, popular beliefs\, and daily life.

We will hold a special Open House on Saturday\, July 25\, for City of Water Day. \n\n\nSignup begins in person at 9 a.m. for three guided “waves” on a first come\, first served basis. Once you’ve signed up\, be sure to return to the boathouse on time or you’ll forfeit your spot. \n\n\nSign up to paddle in a boat by yourself or with a friend in a tandem kayak (as available).
