SUMMARY:The People's Theater: Día de Muertas
DESCRIPTION:For the seventh year in a row\, Undocumented Women’s Fund invites you to our Día de Muertas\, a feminist and immigrant justice take on Día de Muertos. \nDía de Muertos is a traditional holiday that warmly welcomes back the souls of departed loved ones. Families illuminate cemeteries and build colorful ofrendas laden with bright cempasúchil marigolds\, candlelight\, favorite dishes\, and sugar skulls. Rather than a time of mourning\, it is a spirited celebration of remembrance\, affirming that love and memory endure beyond death. Hence\, Día de Muertas is our yearly event to honor and celebrate the lives of women\, children\, and gender-expansive people we have lost at the hands of a murderous immigration system\, whether on their journey north\, in detention\, or after deportation. \nThere will be flowers\, music\, art making\, food and learning about our traditions! \nThis event is a collaboration with NYIC and DSA Latinos Socialistas. See you there

SUMMARY:Holy Trinity Church: Threads Between Us
DESCRIPTION:A two-day gathering of art\, writing\, music\, film\, food\, and community created in collaboration with friends and cultural workers in Gaza and Upper Manhattan. \nAt the center of the event are the voices and creative work of people in Gaza—not simply as witnesses to devastation\, but as artists\, writers\, parents\, students\, teachers\, and makers with stories\, ideas\, humor\, beauty\, and lives that extend far beyond the headlines. \nThreads Between Us will bring together artwork and photography\, projected writing\, film screenings\, live music and conversation\, Palestinian food\, a bookstore\, a marketplace\, children’s activities\, and workshops exploring meaningful ways to participate in mutual aid for Gaza. \nFriday evening will offer a donation-based preview with art\, music\, film\, light food\, and conversation. Saturday’s full-day gathering will expand the program with workshops\, educational events\, activities for children\, shopping\, and opportunities to meet members of the community behind the work. Children are welcome throughout the weekend. \nThe event is both a cultural celebration and a fundraiser. Proceeds will directly support families in Gaza and the artists\, writers\, educators\, and community-led initiatives whose work is being shared. \nThreads Between Us grows from nearly three years of relationships between people in Gaza and a grassroots community in Upper Manhattan. It is an invitation to encounter one another across distance—not through abstraction or numbers\, but through the work people make\, the stories they choose to tell\, and the connections we continue to build together.
