    Join Fort Washington Library for the Get Lit! Book Club, neighborhood edition! Each month, New Yorkers come together to read and discuss a popular title leading up to a live event with WNYC’s Alison Stewart and the author. This month’s book is George Saunders' Booker Prize winning novel Lincoln in the Bardo, a moving and original father-son story featuring none other than Abraham Lincoln, as well as an unforgettable cast of supporting characters, living and dead, historical and invented.

    Join us as we screen "Like Water for Chocolate" the film adaptation Mexican novelist Laura Esquivel's 1989 novel of magical realism that explores love, repression, and the emotional power of food. The movie takes place during the Mexican Revolution of 1910 and tells the story of Tita the youngest daughter and cook of the De La Graza family, who must remain single in order to care for her aging mother.

    Join us a we count down the Halloween season with some good gory fun films like 2011's "Attack the Block". Starring John Boyega ( Star Wars) in his debut feature as the leader of a group of teens who defend their neighborhood in South London against aliens. Also along for the ride is Jodie Whitaker (Dr. Who) who ends up helping the teens after an earlier incident puts them at odds.
