DESCRIPTION:September 19th at 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm\n\n\n\n\nJoin the WHCO as we kick off our 2026–27 season dedicated to exploring Resiliencia con Rompiendo barreras \, a program celebrating those brave and bold artistic voices that defied the expectations of their time. \nRepertorio: \n\nIgor Stravinsky:  Dumbarton Oaks\nAndrea Casarrubios:  Heritage\nLouise Farrenc: Sinfonía n.º 3\n\nThe concert will last approximately one hour\, without an intermission. Afterwards\, there will be a reception with the musicians. \n\nRompiendo barreras  comienza con  Dumbarton Oaks\, Igor Stravinsky’s ingenious and elegant chamber concerto\, inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos . Herencia (“Heritage”) by Andrea Casarrubios is a deeply personal reflection on memory\, identity\, and cultural roots. Inspired by the composer’s Spanish heritage\, the work intertwines lyrical melodies and evocative textures in a moving musical tribute to the traditions and stories that have spanned generations. We conclude our program with Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 3. Completed in 1847\, this is generally considered the pinnacle of her orchestral output. Combining the balance of Classicism with the intensity of Romanticism\, the work demonstrates a masterful command of orchestral color\, dramatic structure\, and lyrical invention\, reaffirming her place among the leading symphonic composers of her time.

DESCRIPTION:A special Friday night concert with the award-winning harpist Rita Costanzi opens the HVG Performing Arts Group concert season on September 25 at 7:30 pm. Costanzi was Principal Harp of CBC Radio Orchestra and Vancouver Symphony and has performed throughout Europe and the Americas. In the intimate setting of The Lounge at Hudson View Gardens\, she’ll perform a program that includes works by Bach\, Faure\, Granados\, Liszt and Debussy. \nRita Costanzi is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and two-time winner of the American Harp Society’s National Competition. She produced and performed an award-winning one-woman show based on her memoir “The Strings of My Heart.” \nThe season continues on October 25 with Swing a Song of Sondheim\, a special co-presentation with Castle Village. Classical guitarist Mak Grgic\, a Grammy nominee\, comes to The Lounge on November 22\, and an HVG favorite\, Cassatt String Quartet\, returns on December 13. HVG resident pianist Evelyne Luest and friends perform solo piano and chamber works on January 31. DESCRIPTION:Inwood Art Works Studio presents an evening with Maggie Clarke\, guitarist\, singer\, and storyteller\,  Maggie Clarke sings the great songs of the 1960s and 1970s\, covering a broad and versatile range of music from British Invasion Artists to pop singers and folk artists of that period. Maggie plays with two New York Bands\, The Apple Bonkers and The Meetles\, as well as does weekly solo concerts on Facebook. She specializes in the songs from the Beatles’ long careers and is deeply versed in the origins of their songs\, their meanings\, and their importance to each one of the Fab Four. \nShe fills her time between songs with stories about the songs — things only someone expertly familiar with the music of the period would know. You will be drawn in by her voice and guitar\, and her witty stories and fun anecdotes. She is an accomplished musician and a wonderful repository of knowledge of this important musical period.
