WHCO at Morris-Jumel at Celebrate Women’s History Month
We are honored to be a part of the Morris-Jumel Mansion‘s Women’s History Month Kick-off celebration on Saturday 3/1 along with artist Andrea Arroyo, author Margaret Oppenheimer, and poet Lisa “Rubi G” Ventura!
WHCO musicians flutist Anna Urrey, violinist Ashley Windle, violist Hannah Burnett, and cellist Valeriya Sholokhova, will perform a beautiful program for flute and string trio from 1:30-2pm in the Octagon Room.
These special events throughout the day are free with admission to the museum! Hope to see you there!!

Celebrate women of the past, present, and future all day long at the Morris-Jumel Mansion’s Women’s History Month Kick-Off!
With the price of admission to the Mansion, drop in at any time from 11:30 AM-2:30 PM to experience multiple activations throughout the house featuring a live art demonstration by Andrea Arroyo, visual artist and creator of the special exhibition “Faces and Facades”, the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, live readings by Poet Lisa “Rubi G” Ventura, and a talk by Margaret Oppenheimer, author of “The Remarkable Rise of Eliza Jumel” on the Women of the House during the Jumel’s residency. “A Daughter of Rhode Island”, Author Margaret Oppenheimer will read from her biography “The Remarkable Rise of Eliza Jumel,” and share some material that didn’t make it into the book about nightlife in Providence during Eliza’s childhood.

The festivities begin at 11 AM, when the Mansion opens to the public. Activations begin at 11:30 AM. Stay for one, or stay for all! Last admission to the Mansion is 4 PM.
