This month, LOST INWOOD is thrilled to present a brand new program: “Speakeasies & Gangsters.” Join us for an in-depth look at the neighborhood during Prohibition and the turbulent years that followed.

We will track down the locations of former speakeasies hidden throughout the neighborhood. By design, these haunts were secretive and elusive—which makes rediscovering them today such an exciting adventure. You will recognize many of these spots, but you’ll never look at them the same way again.

And then, there are the characters. We’ll explore the lives of mob molls, stick-up artists, and hitmen, featuring a special look at the work of notorious crime photographer Arthur Fellig—better known as Weegee.

Travel back to an Inwood straight out of a James Cagney film. It all happened right here, on the streets you walk every day.
