WHCO's concert "In The Places That Inspire Us" explores music inspired by real-world settings and emotional landscapes. First, Anna Clyne’s Restless Oceans, a contemporary work that channels the sea. Next, Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, set to the words of James Agee. Finally, Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 “Scottish”.
The clarinet-oboe-bassoon trio performs a program that traces the arc of dance in chamber music across three centuries: from the courtly dances of Rameau and Handel through Beethoven's expansive Sextet and onward to the vibrant music of Paquito d'Rivera and others.
