    Join us to discuss one of NYPL's Best New Comics for Adults, Charity and Sylvia by Tillie Walden. The (mostly) true story of Charity Bryant and Sylvia Drake, two women who met and fell in love in Vermont in 1807 when Charity moved to Weybridge from Massachusetts. Being openly gay isn't easy in early America, but the two immediately connect and spend the next 44 years together, building a life in spite of the odds, as a lesbian couple in small town Vermont.All adults welcome! No need to finish the book to attend. This discussion will be led by our adult librarian.

    A special evening with acclaimed Dominican writer, musician, and artist Rita Indiana in celebration of her new novel, Admodeus, a hallucinatory thriller about a failing demon’s search for a new host in post-dictatorship Santo Domingo. On this evening, Rita joins us for her first literary event in the neighborhood she calls home. She will be in conversation with Alex V. Cruz to discuss her return to fiction, and the intersections of literature, music, memory, Santo Domingo, identity, and place that have shaped her singular body of work.
