The annual Dr. Ruth Community Awards will honor Carol Weinstein, founder of the Friends of Fort Tryon Park in the 1980s, and recognize the Historic Friends Committee for their longstanding stewardship of the park.
Step back in time and experience the sights and sounds of the Revolutionary War at the historic Commemoration of the Battle of Fort Washington! Held at Café Lawn in Fort Tryon Park, this event brings history to life with a dramatic live battle reenactment, 18th-century demonstrations, and hands-on activities for all ages. Live reenactment with British and American troops Blacksmith demonstrations showcasing traditional craftsmanship. Live 18th-century music to set the scene. Guided battlefield tours with reenactors in full costume.
Join the Rangers on a post-holiday super hike of Inwood Hill Park and Fort Tryon Park. The Rangers will take you on a Northern Manhattan Walk along the Inwood Salt Marsh, old growth forest and then onto the scenic paths of Fort Tryon Park to enjoy stunning views of the Palisade Cliffs and Hudson River. The hike will end at the Heather Garden of Fort Tryon Park at Margaret Corbin Circle and Fort Washington Avenue.
