Bloom Readings: Present 2 Interesting Poets Reading Together! (FREE!)

Bloom Readings, Washington Heights long-time presenter of literary readings, is pleased to present Constantine Contogenis and Tracy Jones.  These two friends, from various traditions, promise an invigorating evening.  And it’s Free.  The event will be held at The Lounge at Hudson View Gardens, entered into just west of the intersection of Pinehurst Ave. and 183rd St.  See the  the flyers.

Constantine’s most recent books are Our Cavafy, his translations of the great Greek poet, Constantine Cavafy, and Between One Thing and Its Other, just released by Finishing Press.Constantine was a finalist for the Pablo Neruda Poetry Prize.  His collection, “Ikaros” (Word Press, 2004) won the “Open Voice Poetry Award” from Writer’s Voice.

Tracy is a Poet, Storyteller, journalist, essayist, and professional dreamer. For the past four years he’s been a Senior Writer at Microsoft writing about design. His writing has appeared in Cleaver Magazine, Hi-Fructose, LA Weekly, Huffpost, Tokyo Weekender, and others.  He came up in the slam poetry scene performing at The Nuyorican Poets Café & Bowery Poetry Club.

Bloom Readings: An Autumnal Poetry Reading

Bloom Readings is thrilled to present three excellent poets who will share the bill in The Lounge at Hudson View Gardens, on Sunday, Nov. 2nd at 6 pm.  Come hear Rebecca Keith, Anthony Cappo and Kristina Andersson Bicher read from their current work.  And afterwards, over wine and cheese, all three will have their published work for sale and would be happy to sign your copy.    The Lounge is located in Washington Heights near Bennett Park, just west of the intersection of Pinehurst Ave. and 183rd Street.  Admission is $10.

Sarah Van Arsdale is a fiction writer, poet, and artist living in New York and Oaxaca, Mexico. Her seventh book, Catch and Release, (Finishing Line Press, 2024) is a book-length poem about the human impact on the sea life in Mexico, levied by Van Arsdale’s watercolor illustrations. Her first novel, Toward Amnesia, was published by Riverhead Books in 1995. She is the author of three other books of fiction: Blue, winner of the Peter Taylor Prize for the novel (2003 University of Tennessee Press);  Grand Isle (SUNY Press, 2012) a novella collection, In Case of Emergency, Break Glass (Queens Ferry Press, 2016), and another book-length poem, The Catamount (Nomadic Press, 2016). She’s assistant director of the Ferro-Grumley Award in LGBTQ Fiction, and she teaches creative writing in the low-residency MFA program at Antioch University.

David Ebenbach is the author of ten books of fiction, poetry, and non-fiction, including his new novel Possible Happiness, called “a beautiful coming-of-age novel” by Booklist, in a starred review. His books have won such awards as the Drue Heinz Literature Prize and the Juniper Prize, among others. His fiction and poetry have also been published in numerous magazines, including The Kenyon Review, Asimov’s Science Fiction, and The New England Review.
