Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra returns to our home at Fort Washington Collegiate Church for our official “Sound y Sabor” season opening concert, “Visions | Visiones.” Join us for incredible music by Iván Enrique Rodríguez, Jessica Meyers, Jean Françaix, and Ottorino Respighi.
“Visions | Visiones” features music that draws inspiration from the visual arts to reveal the composers’ painting within. Françaix’s “Sérénade” is an energetic and vibrant ballet score which conjures the dynamic range of human physicality and all the motions we express through dance. Puerto Rican composer Iván Enrique Rodríguez’s wind quintet “3 Visions” is inspired by the experience of hidden, even repressed memories suddenly reemerging into our conscious mind to again torment—or liberate. NYC uptown composer Jessica Meyer’s “In the Waves” was written as a response to a painting by Paul Gauguin of the same name. And finally, Ottorino Respighi’s “Trittico Botticelliano,” one of Respighi’s best-known works, tours three celebrated paintings by Italian Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli: Spring, The Adoration of the Magi, and The Birth of Venus.
Tickets are now available directly at https://buytickets.at/whco/1028924 or on our website: www.whco.nyc. Prices range from $5 to $20.
