J. Hood Wright Park: Jazz Foundation of America Presents Annette A. Aguilar & StringBeans

Come join us to witness Annette A. Aguilar & StringBeans live at the J Hood Wright Park! An uptown favorite, the celebrated percussionist, educator, and bandleader Annette A. Aguilar grew up in the Bay Area before moving to NYC, where she has earned two masters degrees and played with a wide array of important artists,.  She founded her Latin Jazz and Brazilian group StringBeans in 1992. Named in part after its unique instrumentation–including violin and other strings–this group has performed at the Kennedy Center and Jazz at Lincoln Center; across the United States; and, as Latin Jazz Ambassadors for the U.S. State Department, in many parts of Africa.

Join us for a spooky celebration at J. Hood Wright Park. Wear your best costume and get ready for the scariest party in town in our interactive haunted house!

Know before you go:
You can experience our fright walk at any point between the allotted time for the day. For your safety and others’, please exercise caution during the fright walk. Please wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes, and refrain from wearing jewelry. Participants cannot run or touch props and actors. No bags or belongings are allowed inside, so please plan accordingly. Parental discretion and supervision, especially for participants under 13, are highly recommended. Waivers must be signed by an adult.

The HALLOWSCREAM! Fright Walk features frightening images and special effects, sudden movements and jump scares, loud and intense audio, varying light conditions (such as flashing lights and low visibility), and fog in a potentially physically and emotionally demanding environment. Enter at your own risk.

J. Hood: Public Theater Mobile Unit: Much Ado About Nothing

The Public Theater’s Mobile Unit celebrates its 15th year with the beloved romantic comedy MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. Director Rebecca Martínez and composer Julián Mesri (Mobile Unit’s The Comedy of Errors) reunite for their third consecutive year for this new take on the classic tale of love, deception, and misunderstandings, blending Latine influences, original music, and Shakespeare’s timeless wit. Presented mostly in English, with some Spanish language incorporated, this 90-minute, family-friendly production is designed to be accessible to a wide range of audiences. Mobile Unit visits parks, correctional facilities, and more locations in each NYC borough free of charge as part of The Public Theater’s commitment to making great theater accessible to all.
