“Upside Down Situation” at Buunni Inwood

A live performance of Upside Down Situation, a short play by Maaji Newbold, followed by a public talk.

BEING THERE will be on exhibit from June 1 to 30th, 2022 at Buunni Coffee as part of the Uptown Arts Stroll, an annual event produced by the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMAA) in collaboration with local artists, businesses, and community leaders.

BEING THERE grew out of my collaboration with three artists who have experienced homelessness for the photography project Still Lives. After four years of deep conversations, joint efforts and brainstorming, Maaji Newbold, Marcus Moore, Mike Deegan, and myself received a grant from LMCC to present our collaboration at Buunni Inwood as part of the Uptown Arts Stroll. The project includes a visual art exhibition and a series of live performance and video screenings accompanied by public talks.

Fort Tryon Park Walking Group

This free walking program will help you move your body and connect with others in your community! The program will start with a group warm-up led by a Shape Up NYC instructor, followed by a walking workout appropriate for all levels and paces, and ending with a cool down and stretch. Join the fun! The group will meet at the park sign at 190th Street and Fort Washington Avenue. The group will not meet during inclement weather or when temperatures fall below 40 degrees; please dress for the weather. For everyone’s safety we’re asking participants and instructors to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing of 10 feet during class. Wash your hands frequently and stay home if you’re sick. Instructor: Xiomara
