Write to Change the World with Cleyvis Natera

Participants will gain critical knowledge of how to articulate a goal, break it down into achievable parts, and hold themselves accountable, through community, to see them through. Writing prompts will generate new work that participants can refine further to the workshop.

Have you wondered if it’s possible to take a leap in your writing to impact change on a broader scale? How to pivot from writing “for the sake of art” to writing work that persuades, influences and inspires others to action? This master class begins with a framework that will help you articulate goals, establish a timeline to achieve them, and hold yourself accountable to impact change on a massive scale. Then, we’ll move on to a series of generative writing prompts sure to set your artist soul on fire. You’ll leave this course with a plan to take your work to the next level and accountability buddies who will make sure you stick to your plan.

First Pages with Leslie Zampetti, Dunham Literary

How do you know if you’ve hooked your reader? What makes a first page shine? Join literary agent Leslie Zampetti as she critiques fifteen first pages in this online session and shows you what makes a good first impression on an agent. 15 submissions will be selected randomly.

Join literary agent Leslie Zampetti as she critiques fifteen first pages in this online session and shows you what makes a good first impression on an agent. This session is for writers who already have a working manuscript and are able to submit the first page for review.

Session is limited to 30 attendees and will include time for questions, both specific to the pages and in general.

To submit a first page, please email it to info@dominicanwriters.com

Each page must include: 

  • Title 
  • Identify your genre. Leslie will only review: All fiction, Memoir or Narrative Nonfiction, Picture Books, Young Adult, Adult. Novels in verse are good too.
  • Age category, (Children, Young adult, Adult)
  • Double-spaced. 350 words maximum. 
  • Please do not put your name on the page.  
  • SUBMIT BY MAY 1ST to info@dominicanwriters.com, Email subject: 1 Page w Leslie.

15 submissions will be selected randomly. You must be online at the session to have your page critiqued; no critiques will be sent to the author.

This session requires a $12 Donation to Dominican Writers.
