MJM Virtual Parlor Chat: Inspired by the Harlem Renaissance, a View from the Heights

May 15 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

| Suggested Donation5.00

West Harlem served as home to many players of the Harlem Renaissance and served to inspire the generation of creative artists that would follow! May’s Virtual Parlor Chat is a presentation and conversation with Harlem historian John T. Reddick that will focus on a variety of Harlem players from Paul Robeson and his wife, the scholar and author Eslanda Goode Robeson, jazz artist Sonny Rollins and the late creative visual artist Faith Ringgold among others. The Morris-Jumel Mansion and the beauty of its surrounding park made residing in the area an attraction for generations of aspirational African Americans, situated as it is at the crest of Harlem’s famed Sugar Hill.
