Pre-Show: Samuel Torres’ “Trio Libre”
Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, based in Brooklyn, NY, Latin Grammy Award-winning percussionist and composer Samuel Torres thrives at the intersection of Afro-Latin rhythms, Latin jazz, and contemporary classical music. Torres has performed, arranged, produced and/or recorded with the “who’s who” of the jazz, Latin pop and the classical world.. He has been featured as a composer and soloist with classical orchestras.
“Trio Libre” features Samuel Torres on congas, Carmen Staaf on piano, and Felipe Fournier on vibraphone.
Presented in collaboration with Inwood Art Works, Cine al Fresco is the Hispanic Society’s annual free outdoor film series dedicated to Spanish and Latin American cinema.
The program begins at 6pm with a special pre-show live performance followed by the film at 7pm.
All films are shown in their original language with English subtitles.
