ABOUT THE ARTIST
Esperanza Martell life, ideals, and beliefs are expressed through her artistic creations. Her politics, culture, and spirituality give life to pieces that speak about the power within her Puerto Rican African/Taino ancestry and life’s struggles for humanity. The legacy passed down through generations speaks of how the ordinary and extraordinary walk together hand in hand. As she creates from ancestral forms, she calls upon those powers to continue manifesting among us. She hand-builds images inspired by sacred shapes, traditional and non-traditional methods, and natural materials. The 2024 Urban ATABEX Collection de Terra y Mal was dedicated to the mothers and children of Palestine. Using clay, wood, seeds, shell, and recycled materials, she brings you Earth Spirit Art in Every Child a Prayer, a travailing installation of Peace, Resistance, and Love.
