Kids Week: Geology Rocks!
Even when school’s out, our parks are still the city’s natural classroom! Bring your kids to Inwood Hill Park for Kids Week during Spring Break. With programs led by our Urban Park Rangers, kids will get to experience nature in a hands-on and fun way. Learn all about the geological landscape of Manhattan. Registration not required.

Outdoor Skills: Survival 101
Our Urban Park Rangers are well versed in outdoor lore. Learn tips and tricks that will enhance your knowledge of the natural world, and might just save your life. Whether you are preparing for an extended journey through the woods or just want to be more prepared for any situation, an outdoor skills program is the perfect fit for you. Learn the basic skills of outdoor survival including fire making, shelter building and water collection among other skills.

Join the Urban Park Rangers for a monthly discussion of a nature-themed book. This month’s book will be The Light Eaters by Zoe Schlanger. Please have the book read before the meeting! Registration not required. Program will be at Nature Center.

Historic New York: The Little Red Lighthouse
The Jeffrey’s Hook lighthouse, erected in 1880 and moved to its current site in 1921, has become widely known as the children’s literary landmark “The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge.” Rediscover the history of this unique landmark. Open access between 1:00pm and 2:45pm. Participants may need to queue for access due capacity limits inside of the structure. Enter park via overpass closest to Plaza Lafayette. (West 181st Street) and Riverside Drive.
