Join the NYC Children’s Theater for a community read-aloud event celebrating The Hula Hoopin’ Queen! The read-aloud will be approximately 30-40 minutes long with a fun activity at the end. Attendees will receive a special discount to attend the stage production of The Hula Hoppin’ Queen at the New York City Children’s Theater.
This spring, from February 28-March 15, 2026, the New York City Children’s Theater will be bringing a stage adaptation of the beloved children’s book The Hula Hoopin’ Queen by Thelma Lynne Godin. Learn more about the stage productions here.

Word Up Community Bookshop & the French American Academy presents a special story time in French, led by a FAA teacher.

The Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra presents Storytime with the Symphony, a three-concert series in partnership with Word Up Community Bookshop. Each program features stories and music with thoughtful connections to themes familiar to children growing up in Washington Heights, with bilingual narration in English and Spanish. All performances take place at Recirculation, a project of Word Up Community Bookshop.
