Inwood Hill Park – Native American Heritage Month: Lenape Harvest and History

During Native American Heritage Month, explore the past and present experience of Native Americans. Join the Urban Park Rangers on a hike to see the rock shelters in the ancient tulip forests of Inwood Hill Park to learn of rich culture, history, and traditions of the Lenape! Celebrate the indigenous residents of this land and learn more about their family and food traditions.

Shinnecock Summer Dance

Celebrate summer by learning a variety of dances performed by Shinnecock Nation members, including powwow dances (Eastern War, Eastern Blanket, Fancy, Jingle, and Grass) and social dances (Stomp and Round).

Demonstrations/performances: 12 p.m.; 2 p.m.; 4 p.m.

The Boys & Girls Club of Shinnecock Nation provides opportunities for Shinnecock youth to learn about their history and culture. The club offers classes in regalia making and Shinnecock history and language, as well as recreational activities, skill building, and more, to its more than 100 members ages 4–18.
