Jazz WaHi – Chris Humphrey “The Voice of Clark Terry”
“Humphrey’s is a gregariously happy tenor voice, one perfect for the joyously infectious jazz playing that was Clark Terry. He is as nimble as an Olympic gymnast as he’s singing the “vocalesed” lyrics and Terry’s note-for-note solos.” – Nichloas Mondello, All About Jazz

Bridge Through the Storm/ Un Puente en la Tormenta
Our precious neighborhood gallery at the Hebrew Tabernacle on 185th Street and Fort Washington Avenue will be sharing the work of Julia Justo and the poetry of Elddry Castillo in an exhibit entitled Bridge Through the Storm – Un Puente en la Tormenta with poetry entitled Time – El Tiempo.
The artist, Julia writes:
In this time of exclusion and displacement, my work seeks to bring attention to histories at risk of erasure while envisioning a more tolerant, connected, interdependent future.
The poet, Elddry writes:
Time: …I am the strength of the ancestors, I am the vulnerability of the day, I am the shell of the invisible. I am you, and I am me…
El Tiempo:… Soy la Fortaleza de los ancestros, soy la vulnerabilidad del día, soy la Corteza de lo invisible. Soy tu y soy you…
You are cordially invited to the opening reception of the next Armin and Estelle Gold Wing exhibit:
Monday, August 7th, 2023 from 6:30 – 8 pm. Julia will be there to speak of her art and answer questions. I’m hoping Elddry will be able to make it too.
