Jazz WaHi: Melting Pot Jazz

Join us for The Melting Pot Jazz Series- A FREE family-friendly outdoor concert series celebrating the rich influence of immigrants on American jazz 🎷Every Thursday from May 29 to June 26 at 6:30pm on the lawn of the St. Frances Cabrini Shrine in Washington Heights, or indoors in case of rain.

Presented with support from a Cultural Development Fund grant from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.

Hailed by The Strad for playing with “tremendous heart and beauty,” the Ivalas Quartet recently finished a two-year residency at Juilliard. Their repertoire spotlights past and present composers of overlooked cultures alongside the standard repertory.

Heart-lifting music to bring joy and hope to your heart. All concerts take place on Sunday evenings at 5:30. Admission: $20/adult, $10/seniors and youth. Tickets available in advance.

Celebrate the final concert of the 20th annual Scandinavian Music Festival with an evocative and intimate chamber performance by the Scandia String QuartetThis enchanting program brings together classical Scandinavian string quartets and beloved traditional melodies arranged by the Danish String Quartet:

Christian Sinding – Quartet in Minor, Op. 70 (Andante, Allegretto Scherzando)

Carl Nielsen – Quartet in Minor, Op. 13 (Allegro Energico)

Rued Langgaard – Quartet No. 4 “Summer Days”

Scandinavian Traditional Melodies arranged by the Danish String Quartet:

Regin Smiður (Faroe Islands)

Nær mitt øye (Norway)

Edvard Grieg – Wedding Day at Troldhaugen
