The New York Latino Film Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary with a screening of A Tiro Limpio (In a Hail of Bullets), making its U.S. premiere.

Synopsis: A professional thief hell-bent on personal vengeance and the captain in hot pursuit both seek justice in this ambitious, action-packed Dominican thriller. A crew of elite thieves carries out a series of increasingly sophisticated heists against a powerful conglomerate in the Dominican Republic. But behind these daring hits, there’s more than just greed – there’s a personal vendetta against the ruthless tycoon who controls it all. When the police uncover their identities, the hunt escalates. Now, they must pull off the biggest job of their lives while facing an unstoppable enemy and evading the relentless law on their heels. In this high-stakes game of strategy, betrayal, and adrenaline, they will only come out Guns Blazing!

“Claire Daly Lives!” celebrates the life of baritone saxophonist and community anchor Claire Daly who passed away one year ago. The program begins with a new piece commissioned by JPI and composed by Joel Forrester (music), Kirpal Gordon (poetry), Michael Blake and Deb Weiz (arrangers) and ends with a jam session on Claire’s favorite tunes with some of Claire’s favorite musicians.

Featuring The Jazz Power Orchestra with Eli Yamin, piano and co-leader, Michael Blake, tenor saxophone and co-leader, Lisa Parrot, baritone saxophone, James Zollar trumpet, Deb Weiz, trombone, Dave Hofstra, bass, Steve Johns, drums.

Celebrate National Dance Day with an immersive, multi-disciplinary arts experience in Fort Tryon Park!  Walk the Broadway path and encounter Uptown Dance Collective’s (UDC) “Tales: Altered and Repaired” inspired by folk and fairy tales with dance, music, and spoken word all woven into the landscape of the parkland.

UDC dance artists Lisa Green, Amy Kail, Navarra Novy-Williams, Sandra Rivera, and Maxine Steinman’s influences include Butoh, Ballet, Folk, Latinx Folklorico, Flamenco, Modern, and Afro-Caribbean.  Musicians John Ehlis, and Jessica Lurie join them on Saxophone, Flute, Guitar, and Percussion; and poet Paul Rabinowitz shares original poetry. Dancers Laura Mead, Caroline Fermin, and Paul Thompson will be joining us this year!

We encourage our audience to bring light pillows, blankets, or folding chairs you can easily carry as we go from site to site.
