Inwood Hill Park – Kids Week: Winter Nature Crafts

Even when school’s out, our parks are still the city’s natural classroom! Bring your kids to parks throughout the city during Mid-Winter recess. With programs led by our Urban Park Rangers, kids will get to experience nature in a hands-on and fun way. Let the winter season inspire you as we create crafts from things found in nature.

Inwood Hill Park: Urban Park Rangers: New Year’s Day Hike

If your New Year’s resolution is to get healthy, join the Urban Park Rangers on a lengthy super hike of Inwood Hill Park and Fort Tryon Park. Dress warmly, put on your hiking shoes, and head to Inwood Hill Park. Urban Park Ranger hiking guides will introduce you to the hidden gems of New York City. The Rangers will take you on a Northern Manhattan walk along the Inwood salt marsh, old growth forest and then onto the scenic paths of Fort Tryon Park to enjoy stunning views of the Palisade Cliffs and Hudson River. The hike will end at the Heather Garden of Fort Tryon Park at Margaret Corbin Circle and Fort Washington Avenue.

The Urban Park Rangers will be your guides to the solar system, discussing the science, history and folklore of the universe. Astronomy programs feature the use of telescopes and binoculars to observe specific astronomical events. The Full Moon will be reaching Super Moon status as it reaches its closest extent to Earth
