HVG Lounge: Violin-Piano Recital

March 22 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
$15 – $20

Hudson View Gardens Performing Arts group presents HVG’s own pianist David Kalhous and the award-winning violinist Benjamin Sung for a concert in The Lounge on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at 5 pm.

The program features music by some of the most celebrated German and Czech composers: Johann Sebastian Bach’s virtuosic Sonata in E Major for violin and harpsichord, Leoš Janáček’s wondrous Sonata written in 1914, and a work by one of the most original Czech composers of the early 20th century, Vítězslava Kaprálová. A highlight of the program is the Fantasy in C Major by Franz Schubert, which is one of the most challenging pieces in the violin-piano repertoire.

In addition to being an HVG resident, Kalhous is a familiar face at The Lounge, having most recently performed in the “Friends & Neighbors Concert” last December. He teaches at Florida State University alongside Benjamin Sung, and the two musicians are frequent collaborators. Sung is also a Faculty Artist and Violin Coordinator at the Brevard Music Center, where he serves as Concertmaster of the Brevard Opera Orchestra.

The concert is open to the public; admission is $20 suggested donation ($15 for seniors/students; under 8 free) at the door, at The Lounge at HVG (128 Pinehurst Ave at West 183rd Street in Manhattan).
