Rising in the Heights is a festival of free outdoor public arts performances curated by Leadlights Ensemble in partnership with Word Up Community Bookshop. Join Hike the Heights for an educational hike through Highbridge Park (10am-12pm) as we celebrate the 5th City of Forest Day. Starting location: Sunken Playground on Edgecombe Avenue. During the hike we will discuss basic tree identification, look for plants that can be foraged and its benefits, as well as a trail clean up. The hike will convene at the Inaugural New York Restoration Project (NYRP) Paw Paw Festival at Sherman Creek Park (12-4pm)

Summer on the Hudson: Little Red Lighthouse Festival. Celebrate Manhattan’s only remaining lighthouse with the Urban Park Rangers, readings of the eponymous children’s book, live music, local organizations, and activities for all ages! The Little Red Lighthouse is beloved by New Yorkers and visitors alike. Join us in our quest to ensure that the Little Red Lighthouse can safely receive visitors for years to come. We highly recommend that visitors looking to tour the lighthouse earlier in the day arrive before noon. Tickets will be timed for a 40-minute window.
