Celebrate the holiday season at Morris Jumel Mansion’s December Family Day with a festive pomander making activity! Step back into the 18th century and learn about the history of these delightful citrus ornaments, traditionally made with oranges and cloves, that were crafted to fill homes with lovely scents and holiday spirit. In colonial times, making pomanders was a way to keep winter’s chill at bay and bring warmth to gatherings. In addition to this hands-on activity, enjoy a special reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” in Spanish at 1:30 PM and in English at 2:30 PM.Perfect for families, enjoy a fun way to connect with our past while making beautiful decorations to brighten your home. Materials are provided on a first come, first served basis. Don’t miss out on this festive celebration!

Regrese al siglo XVIII y aprenda sobre la historia de estos adornos cítricos deliciosos, hechos tradicionalmente con naranjas y clavos de olor, que se elaboraban para llenar los hogares con aromas encantadores y espíritu navideño. Manhattan’s oldest residence, the Morris-Jumel Mansion, brings Uptown Manhattan history to life in the brand-new “Uncovering Uptown History” guided walking tour!

Morris-Jumel Mansion guides bring you along a series of hidden historic gems of New York history in the brand-new “Uncovering Uptown History” guided walking tour: a 90-minute, one-mile mobile experience beginning at the Morris-Jumel Mansion and ending at Trinity Cemetery on Broadway and 155th. Spanning over 260 years, this tour illuminates little-known corners of the Revolutionary War, the Gilded and Industrial Ages, the Harlem Renaissance, and more, connecting the paths of legendary figures with the ones we walk today. Perfect for locals, hard to impress history buffs, and tourists looking beyond well-known sites of New York City.

Dress seasonably and wear your walking shoes. The walk is considered easy to moderately challenging.

Tickets are on sale NOW! The first tour of the series will take place December 6 at 10:30am-12:00pm and 1:30-3:00pm.

Looking for an unforgettable ghost adventure for you and your friends? This Spooky Season, book an exclusive paranormal investigation at Manhattan’s oldest surviving house, where you will learn the background of paranormal investigations, including the legendary paranormal activity at Morris-Jumel Mansion, while learning the history of the Mansion, its former residents, and interesting facts about the museum collection. During the program, you will have after-dark access to ghost hunt in the period rooms of the Mansion, normally closed off to the public. Believers and skeptics alike will enjoy the evening, and will have the opportunity to possibly communicate with Morris-Jumel Mansion’s former residents using paranormal investigative equipment.

  • This event is strictly for those 18 and over.
  • Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
  • This event is capped at 16 participants.
  • Guests will not be permitted entry to the park/mansion before 6:45pm; the tour will begin promptly at 7pm; the gates will be closed and locked at 7:05pm and no entry will be permitted after that time. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this. Please plan your arrival accordingly. If you find that you are running late, please call the museum before 7pm at 212-923-8008.
  • We reserve the right to deny entry, and/or to remove from the premises anyone who appears intoxicated, or who is not abiding by these guidelines, which have been established to ensure your safety as well as the safety of our staff and other visitors.

Because of the high demand for this event, guests will be limited to one paranormal investigation per season until further notice. Any duplicate orders will be refunded in order to ensure we can allow as many members of our community to experience this unique event as possible. The Morris-Jumel Mansion, with Marjorie Elliot and Parlor Entertainment Present: The 33rd Annual Jazz at the Mansion

This beloved MJM tradition is back for its 33rd year! Marjorie Elliot and Parlor Entertainment turn the Mansion into a concert venue unlike any other for two days full of Jazz, community, and joy! This event is FREE. There is no registration required.

The Mansion will be open for FREE self-guided tours from 2 PM-4 PM.
Marjorie and the band will play until 6 PM.
