A Community Concert featuring Poetry and Piano

Richard Strauss’s music played on piano, underscoring the recitation of Lord Tennyson’s poem, Enoch Arden. Performed by Christopher Douglaston Ryan and Victoria Schwartzman.

Intermission

Second Act: Chopin Ballade no.1 for piano solo, followed by Dmitri Shostakovich’s Aphorismsplayed on piano, juxtaposed with short poems written by Daniil Kharms. Performed by Lori Funk and Victoria Schwartzman.

Bring your family and meet your friends to enjoy an afternoon community concert. All are welcome!  Reception with light snacks and beverages following the performance.

Joy in Motion is a 60-minute movement experience from Culture Lime that brings together yoga, music, and community in a space where you can slow down, move at your own pace, and enjoy being present with other people.

You don’t need to be a yogi. You don’t need to touch your toes. Just come ready to move.

Bring your yoga mat, water bottle, and whatever else helps you get comfortable

Join us at The Fountain Bookshop in Washington Heights for an evening with Local Author Elise Howard, Plant This, Not That, in conversation with Fort Tryon Park Conservancy Gardener, Craig Peden. They will be discussing gardening, seasonal plants, and what you need to do to prepare your garden this Fall for next Spring!

Come with your own questions and stay for ice cream afterwards.

Fort Tryon Park: Gladiators NYC

Step into the action with live armored demonstrations, activities, exhibitions, and the sights, sounds, and excitement of medieval life! Step into the action at Gladiators NYC!

Travel back in time for an afternoon of medieval adventure at Fort Tryon Park! Get up close with live demonstrations, explore exhibitions, and discover what life was like in the medieval world through hands-on and interactive activities.

Young adventurers can take up foam swords and shields, learn basic sword-and-shield skills from members of Gladiators NYC, and put their skills to the test in supervised sparring. Character actors will also send participants on fun medieval “quests,” from seeking out a knight to facing off against a character in battle!

There will be plenty to explore for history lovers and curious visitors of all ages, with an afternoon designed to bring the medieval world to life. Come ready for an afternoon of history, adventure, and hands-on fun!
