Wildriana Paulino: Studio178 Artist Talk

Please join the artists of Cornerstone Studios for an artist talk by Cornerstone’s 2023-24 #Studio178 artist-in-residence, Wildriana Paulino. Saturday, March 23, 3-4pm, in the sanctuary of Our Saviour’s Atonement Lutheran Church. Address is 178 Bennett Avenue, New York, NY 10040.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Wildriana María de Jesús Paulino is an interdisciplinary artist and educator. She received her BFA in Fine Arts from The Cooper Union School of Art. Wildriana has exhibited her work in various venues, including the Bronx River Art Center, and Abrazo Interno Gallery at the Clemente Soto Veléz Cultural Center. In 2022, she participated in the NY Latin American Art Triennial and exhibited “Maternity Figure,” a life-size installation resulting from her research on femicide—the normalized killing of women for being women. A 2022 recipient of the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Foundation Prize, Wildriana’s collaborations include Women’s Strike NYC and The Audubon Society.

Studio178 is a 12-month artist’s residency for immigrant, late career, recent MFA graduates and/or artists in financial need. Studio178 is jointly sponsored by Cornerstone Studios and Our Saviour’s Atonement Lutheran Church. More information at www.cornerstone studios.nyc and www.osanyc.org.

Cornerstone Studios – Tim Casey: Watercolors

Please join Cornerstone Studios for the opening ceremony of “Tim Casey: Watercolors” in Gallery178. Artist’s reception is Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 11am to 5pm. Exhibition runs through Saturday, January 6, 2024, and is open by appointment.
Tim Casey was born in Oklahoma. He received an MFA from the Rhode island School of Design in 1972 and has lived in New York City since 1984. His work is intuitively informed by the American landscape. Visits to Ireland, Amsterdam, Novia Scotia, Mexico, and Russia are also an influence. The work of Vermeer, Chardin, Rothko, Morandi, and Louise Fishman exert their pull as well. The watercolors generate the vocabulary and emotional tenor employed in larger drawings and paintings.
Casey’s work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Arts Magazine, Art in America, and other publications. His paintings and drawings are in the permanent collections of The Jewish Museum, Chase Manhattan Bank, The National Gallery of Art, Weatherspoon Gallery, The Baltimore Museum of Art, The Arkansas Arts Center, and various private collections.
