Celebrate the holiday season at Morris Jumel Mansion’s December Family Day with a festive pomander making activity! Step back into the 18th century and learn about the history of these delightful citrus ornaments, traditionally made with oranges and cloves, that were crafted to fill homes with lovely scents and holiday spirit. In colonial times, making pomanders was a way to keep winter’s chill at bay and bring warmth to gatherings. In addition to this hands-on activity, enjoy a special reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” in Spanish at 1:30 PM and in English at 2:30 PM. Perfect for families, enjoy a fun way to connect with our past while making beautiful decorations to brighten your home. This program is free and open to the public. Materials are provided on a first come, first served basis. Don’t miss out on this festive celebration!
