A Fundraiser Screening: Join Us for an Evening of Cinema, Community, and Conversation

Cine Farito invites you to a special fundraiser screening of ‘The Infiltrators,’ an award-winning, powerful documentary by Alex Rivera and Cristina Ibarra. This event is more than just a film viewing—it’s an opportunity to use cinema to come together, share experiences, and support our vital mission of empowering immigrant families at risk of deportation in a Washington Heights public school.

CHILDCARE AREA WILL BE PROVIDED.

The Infiltrators is a true story of two young immigrants who get purposefully arrested by Border Patrol, and put in a shadowy for-profit detention center. The film follows Marco and Viri, members of a group of radical Dreamers who are on a mission to stop deportations. And the best place to stop deportations, they believe, is in detention. 90 minutes.

Ibarra and Rivera maintain an effortless balance between genre-rooted entertainment and concern for real human suffering. —John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter

Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with one of the most pressing social issues of our time and participate in a Q&A with activist Marco Saavedra and filmmakers Alex Rivera and Cristina Ibarra. Your attendance supports our mission to foster dialogue and action on immigrant rights.

Event Highlights

  • Film Screening: Experience the groundbreaking documentary
  • Interactive Q&A: Engage with one of the infiltrators in the film, activist Marco Saavedra
  • Reception: Network with fellow community members
  • Fundraising: Support families targeted by ICE in Washington Heights public schools

Cine Farito is a group of families partnering with filmmakers to shed light on the issues that deeply affect marginalized communities. Through film screenings, we raise funds to provide direct financial assistance to the most vulnerable families in our community, whose safety is threatened by harmful federal immigration policies and exclusion.

Where the Funds Will Go. All funds will directly benefit individuals and families in our community in Washington Heights who are facing legal and financial hardships. The name of the school has been withheld to protect our community from harm.

In compliance with Word Up Community Safety guidelines, all attendees are encouraged to stay masked at all time.

Recirculation, a project of Word Up Community Bookshop, is located at 876 Riverside Drive (near 160th St.) in Washington Heights, NYC. You can take the 1 train to 157th St., A/C train to 163rd St., and the M4 and M5 to Broadway and 159/160th.
