NYS Path Through History Weekend at the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum

For the NYS Path Through History Day: Immigrant History Festival

Celebrate the history and present day culture of Upper Manhattan at DFM’s Path Through History Weekend Festival!

10AM-4PM: Enjoy free museum admission and mini tours of DFM’s Hessian Military Hut
10AM-4PM: Arts and crafts with the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum
10AM-4PM: Participate in DFM’s online community exhibition, “I Am, We Are, Inwood.”
11AM-1PM: Listen to José Luis on the harp in the parlor of the museum as you explore DFM’s current exhibitions.
12PM-2PM: Workshop with DFM exhibiting Artist Cinzia Meneghello
2:30PM: join Tony y Son De La 104 in the backyard of the farmhouse! Tony y Son De La 104 is a New York Salsa Orchestra. The band plays a variety of styles of Salsa Dura, Classics and Romantic Salsa. “Our sound is reminiscent of the trombone sound of the popular bands from the 70’s and 80’s with a contemporary edge. We perform our original compositions as well as top Latin standards. The band performs for private and corporate events, Non-profit organizations, night clubs and lounges. We perform music for your dancing and listening pleasure.”

10:00 am a 4:00 pm: artes y oficios con el museo Dyckman Farmhouse.
10:00 am a 4:00 pm: participa en la exhibición comunitaria del Museo Dyckman Farmhouse, “I Am, We Are, Inwood”.
11:00 am a 1:00 pm: escucha a José Luis en el arpa en el salón del museo mientras explora las exhibiciones del Museo Dyckman Farmhouse.

2:30 pm: ¡Únete a Tony y Son De La 104 en el balcón trasero del museo!
Tony y Son De La 104 es una Orquesta de Salsa de Nueva York. La banda toca una variedad de estilos de Salsa Dura, Clásica y Salsa Romántica. “Nuestro sonido recuerda el sonido del trombón de las bandas populares de los años 70 y 80 con un toque contemporáneo. Interpretamos nuestras composiciones originales, así como los mejores estándares latinos. La banda se presenta para eventos privados y corporativos, organizaciones sin fines de lucro, clubes y salones. Interpretamos música para bailar y escuchar.”.

The Rise: Art in The Heights

The Rise is Art on the Ave NYC’s newest exhibition. It takes place in Washington Heights along Broadway between 169th and 170th as well as along W181st St.

This is an interactive gallery walk that viewers can enjoy from the sidewalk. Art on the Ave NYC transforms vacant storefronts into street-facing mini art galleries for all to enjoy. 26 local artists are featured in this exhibition many from the neighborhood. All the art is for sale with all proceeds going directly to the artists. Artists have recorded audio messages for the public that can be heard via a QR code label at each piece. There is also signage at each location which includes a map of the exhibition and messages from the Washington Heights BID and the curator of the show, Alexis Mendoza.

Exhibition ends August 31st, 2023.

Art on the Ave Gallery walks will be announced shortly but anyone can see the exhibition any time.
