Artist C.J. Chueca focuses on the concepts of migration, tradition and transformation throughout her practice. Particpants will collaborate on a large scale group art work using a variety of materials to explore the physical and conceptual properties of rivers as transformational conduits and connectors.

Ten days after Laguna’s Fit to Manufacture Part I: The Performance livestreamFit to Manufacture Part II: The Results will premier at Recirculation. The project continues, now with an invited audience. Live readings, dance, and projection will extend the performance in the intimate space. The evening will feature Sabrina Alli, Li Sian Goh, Angelina Laguna, Hannah Silver, Candice Thompson, and members of Writers Against the War on Gaza.

Laguna questions “What impact can I have against systems of power?”. Fit To Manufacture Part II: The Results will be a time to gather, listen, and reflect on this inquiry.

Marie-Jeanne Riccoboni was a bestselling 18th-Century writer—one of the first female authors who managed to finance an independent life away from her abusive husband thanks to her writing. Her novels explore the impossible choices that women in pre-Revolutionary France faced. Translators Kate Deimling and Karen Santos Da Silva will discuss Riccobboni’s protofeminism, unique style, and the challenges of rendering her prose for modern English-language readers.

This event is a $5 suggested donation ticket with 50 max attendees. Please register in advance.
