In this hands-on workshop, we will explore the intersection of image and text by using family photographs and archives as generative tools for writing. Participants are encouraged to bring photographs or items meaningful to them to examine personal experiences within the context of family. We will look at examples of image-text books, discuss techniques for integrating visuals with narrative, and engage in a short generative writing exercise. This workshop offers a space to reflect on memory, family history, and personal storytelling through the dynamic interplay of words and images.

About Facilitator: Erika Morillo is a photographer and writer born in the Dominican Republic. She lives in Jersey City, New Jersey.

In compliance with Word Up Community Safety guidelines, all attendees MUST stay masked at all time.
